Summer has come to an end and fall is just around the corner which means it’s time to start transitioning your summer wardrobe into fall. It can sometimes be difficult to transition your wardrobe from summer to fall due to weather conditions or fear of letting go of some of your favorite wardrobe pieces. You don’t want to stop wearing that pink summer dress you absolutely love and you don’t have the money to go buy a whole new wardrobe. My advice to you is, don’t completely pack away your summer wardrobe just yet. Hold on to your summer dresses, shorts, and skirts because they’re still going to play a key role in your fall wardrobe. There’s no sense in going out and blowing all of your money on an entirely new wardrobe for the fall season when you can use what you already have and then add a few new items here and there. Personally, fall is one of my favorite seasons and although transitioning your wardrobe to a new season is tricky, I’ve got some great tips to make the transition a little easier!
Layer up: When I said not to pack away those summer wardrobe pieces just yet, I meant it. You can easily transition your summer dresses, shorts, and skirts into fall simply by adding a few layers. Take your flowy summer dresses and add a jacket or a vest. Wear tights under your summer shorts and skirts. You can even add in scarves, belts, and knit socks to give your summer pieces even more of a fall vibe. Layer, layer, layer! But, make sure you don’t overdo it.
Introduce earth tones: Reds, browns, dark greens, navys, beiges, and more. These colors are great additions to your fall wardrobe and are your one excuse to go out and buy a few new pieces for your wardrobe. I love wearing earth tones because they are so complementary on so many different people.
Dig out your boots: Swap your strappy sandals and flipflops out for low-cut booties. They work with any and all types of outfits and are great for the fall. As the season gets colder, transition your booties into mid-calf riding boots, this way you’re not overdoing it and will stay cool in the warmer fall seasons.
Re-paint your nails: Wardrobe isn’t the only key factor when transitioning your summer look into fall. Swap your pink, coral, and french manicures for neutrals, beiges, or shimmery metallics. This way, your polish won’t clash with your fall wardrobe. If you’re a stickler about your nails matching your outfit this will be easy for you!
Warm up your makeup: No, not literally. I’m talking about color tones. For the fall season, choose warmer color tones and less shimmery glosses. Select colors such as warm browns, yellows, pinks, and oranges. Matte lipsticks and glosses are also a great asset to your fall makeup routine.
