Although the temperature doesn’t seem to be cooling down, winter is still on its way and with a new season comes new fashion trends. Usually by this time of year I’ve pulled out my winter coats and buried myself in knit sweaters and scarves; however, mother nature seems to have other plans. Nonetheless, I’m still looking to winter and scoping out all of the latest trends for winter 2016. One of my favorite trends being white booties instead of black. GENIUS. I can’t wait to get my hands all of these items and start transitioning my closet into winter, but until then I’ll just sit here in my tank top and re-read this blog post until the temperature finally drops below 60 degrees. Here are the 7 things you must have in your closet this winter:
1. Swap the peacoat for a puffer:
Peacoats are out, puffer coats are in. The bubble-shaped winter coat is all the rage this winter and surprisingly comfortable. Get your hands on one ASAP.
2. Three layers are better than one:
Don’t just throw on one sweater. Throw on a sweater, a tank top, and a jacket. The more layers the better this winter and you’ll never have to worry about getting cold.
3. Switch your black booties for white/nude:
White is the new black. Yes. WHITE. I’m in love with this new trend. It’s out with the dark and in with the stark white and neutral tones.
4. Toss your basic oversized sweater for one with some back action:
Business in the front, party in the back. Lace-up sweaters and razorback sweaters are all the rage right now, popping up in stores everywhere. Why purchase a boring knit sweater when you could purchase one with an eye-catching back?
5. Drop the infinity and blanket scarves for a long skinny scarf:
Skip wrapping that infinity or blanket scarf around your neck a million times and effortlessly throw on a long skinny scarf to complete your outfit and keep your face and neck warm this winter. Throw it over your shoulder and you’re ready to go!
6. Pick up some fishnets:
“I could never pull that off.” You’d be surprised. I myself was a little surprised by this trend. The last time I actually wore fishnets was Halloween two years ago; however, this is a prominent trend and celebrities like Kendall Jenner and Rihanna are stepping out in fishnets quite frequently.
7. Dig out the power shoulders:
It’s all about the shoulder. Off-the-shoulder and cold-shoulder tops are all the rage, and now so are power shoulders. Time to dig out those blazers circa the ’80s because this trend is back in action.
