Recently, my roommate and I had a large group of friends over for her birthday. Aside from having to scrub my cream area rug with carpet cleaner for a few hours, all went well. I’ve noticed that when many of our friends come into our apartment for the first time the response is usually the same. They usually say something along the lines of, this place feels too homey for two college students. Apparently, not every college student cares about matching their tea towels to their Keurig.
Making an apartment feel genuinely like a home can be tough, especially when you’re in college. My college apartment was the first place that I could decorate on my own, so I was really excited when I was able to make it my own. It took some time and some thoughtful purchases to make it feel cozy. Giving your college apartment that home away from home feeling doesn’t have to be immensely difficult. Here are seven items you can add to your college apartment to make it feel more like a home than a college hangout.
